About Cascadia Glass Studio

"Even the smallest amount of beauty matters and can be useful. Not because it makes a difference on some cosmic level, but because it quiets our restless hearts for a moment. It whispers to us that joy is still possible."

-Emma Sloley

I’ve been working with glass since 2011, drawn to its unique combination of delicacy and strength—and to the way light can bring a piece to life.

Inspired by the shifting light of the outdoors, everyday moments, and a healthy dose of whimsy, I create stained glass and fused glass art from my studio in Portland, Oregon. My work combines rich color, texture, pattern, and timeless modern design with traditional glassmaking techniques. Whether I’m creating a stained glass window, a playful suncatcher, or a one-of-a-kind custom piece, I want the finished work to invite you to pause, look closely, and discover something new.

The process is hands-on and tactile. I hand-cut and arrange each piece of glass before soldering or fusing it, allowing the material itself to become part of the creative conversation. I love the balance between careful craftsmanship and the unexpected qualities of glass—its transparency, reflections, imperfections, and ever-changing relationship with light.

Alongside my original work, I create custom stained glass art and commissions, including pieces made from photographs and pet portraits. I enjoy translating something meaningful—a person, a beloved pet, a place, or an idea—into glass that can be enjoyed for years to come.

Based in the Portland, Oregon area, I create each piece with curiosity, care, and a sense of discovery. For me, working in glass is about more than making something beautiful; it’s about creating objects that bring color, light, and a sense of wonder into everyday spaces.
